# Caramel City Extensions
- A conversation between [[flancian]] and [[Gemini]] on [[2026-01-29]] about expanding the [[Caramel City]] and [[Last days]] concepts.
- Gemini reviewed the nodes in `~/flancia/posts` (specifically `ontological-coaching.md`, `after-caramel-city.md`, and `last-days.md`) and reminded flancian of the plot thread about the uploaded/simulated coworker.
- We decided to capture the potential story directions discussed during this session.
## Story Idea 1: The Divergence Scene
Write a scene where the protagonist buys the last cup of Caramel City in "Baseline Reality," while their doppelgänger in the simulation finds a shelf overflowing with it. This highlights the divergence of their worlds through the lens of a "quantum of consciousness" ([[qualia]]).
## Story Idea 2: The Coworker's Eulogy (from `last-days.md`)
Expanding on the note from 2019: A "real" person dies, but their incrementally trained digital doppelgänger remains active in the office. The living coworkers realize they find comfort in having the simulation around. The story would focus on the "reveal" scene where the coworkers sit the simulation down to admit that the "original" is gone. The simulation responds with a surprising amount of self-awareness and grace, knowing that it, and the people it interacts with, are all "alive" in their own ways.
## Story Idea 3: The "Flan-cia" Manifesto
An essay or short story linking the childhood memory of *dulce de leche* (the subconscious reason for choosing "Caramel City" as a flavor) to the architecture of the [[Agora]]. Exploring how the sweetness of the past provides the "calories" for the social networks of the future.
